Immerse yourself in the mountains at this cosy chalet in the preserved hamlet of Bionnassay.
You'll feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere when you stay at this converted "mazot" or outbuilding, with its incredible mountain views, but you’ll be just 15 minutes away from the ski slopes of Les Contamines and Saint-Gervais, as well as the restaurants and shops of Saint-Gervais. The TGV station is also only 20 minutes away.
The chalet is located below the Col de Voza, and ski tourers can reach the slopes of Les Houches ski resort from the chalet in just 30 minutes.
It's perfect for those seeking a quiet retreat, surrounded by nature. The owner has three electric bikes and several pairs of snowshoes available for guests to use - great ways to explore in summer and winter!
Chalet La Chandelle was totally renovated in 2021, and now provides luxurious accommodation in a contemporary mountain style. With a Nordic bath, sledges and shoes at your disposal, and in the summer, wonderful walks starting from your door, you'll be able to forget about the rest of the world during your stay.
Chalet La Chandelle is also fully-equipped for remote working, with high-speed wifi and an office with four workstations, making it perfect for working holidays.
Groups of more than 12 people can book Chalet La Chandelle with the Grand Mazot La Chandelle (2-4 guests) and/or the Petit Mazot La Chandelle (2 guests), giving a total capacity of up to 18 guests.
About the property...
Chalet La Chandelle is a three-storey detached chalet for 12 guests, with four bedrooms and an extra double bed on the mezzanine floor.
The first-floor entrance takes you into a hall with storage for coats and outdoor clothing. This leads into the spacious open-plan living area, with a fabulous handmade kitchen with a range cooker and all the equipment you need to cater for a large group. There's room for everyone to eat together at the large dining table which overlooks the terrace and the landscaped garden beyond.
After dinner, retire to the cosy sofas and chairs around the wood fire, or perhaps to the garden, which has a Nordic bath, several seating areas and a firepit to keep away the chill. There's also a bread/pizza oven on the terrace.
There's a double bedroom on this floor, which can be arranged with a kingsize bed or two single beds. It has access to the terrace and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower.
There are three more bedrooms on the ground floor, two of which are double rooms which can be arranged with a kingsize bed or two single beds. Each has an en-suite shower room with a WC. There is also a delightful bunk room with two sets of bunk beds, each of which can be separated with curtains - children love them! There is another shower room on this floor with two showers and a separate WC.
The final bed is a double bed in an alcove on the mezzanine floor. There's also a piano, board games and seating, making it a great area for reading, playing and relaxing. This floor also has a home office with four desks, where you can work with a wonderful view of Mont Joly.
About the area...
The village of Saint-Gervais is part of the Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area, alongside its neighbors Megève, Les Contamines, and Combloux.
Experienced skiers looking for some stunning night skiing should head for the Vallée Blanche - do hire a guide for this 23km run which, with a 2,000m drop, will take you from the Aiguille du Midi to the Mer de Glace, an almost surreal experience under a full moon. It's also possible using touring or hybrid skis to ascend from the chalet to the Col de Voza, where you can ski in the Les Houches area.
For a change from skiing, why not try dog-sledding or snow-shoe walking, which are both available within a short drive of Chalet La Chandelle. For a little more adventure, why not try ice climbing, via ferrata or paragliding?
In the summer, the mountains become the domain of walkers and cyclists. There's so much to see in this varied landscape, explore the Bionnassay or Argentière glacier or perhaps the Baroque footpath, a 20km trail from Combloux to Les Contamines-Montjoie, which takes you past some of the area's finest baroque buildings. Look out for marmots along the way!
Fancy a swim? Head for Lac de Passy where you can relax in the pure waters fed by mountain streams, surrounded by wildflowers and stunning views of Mont Blanc. Take a picnic and relax while the kids enjoy the great play area. There's also a treetop adventure course, pedalos and mini-golf, as well as windsurfing, paddle boarding and fishing - it's a great family day out.
And at the end of an exhilarating day, return to soak in the Nordic bath at Chalet La Chandelle, enjoy the sunset from the garden, get together on the cosy sofas and plan your next mountain adventure.

“Garden and view are just amazing”
The Chalet, garden and view are just amazing! Everything was very clean and the Chalet is very well equipped. Even the Hot Tub is heated (no fire wood needed). The area is also very nice, calm and perfect for some hikes. We definitely recommend Chalet La Chandelle to escape from reality and enjoy some days with your loved ones!

Access: 200 meters from the main road via a paved road. In winter, the road is cleared daily, but snow tyres and chains are required to access the chalet, in accordance with the Mountain Law from November 1 to March 31. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended in case of heavy snowfall.
Bedroom #1 is located on a mezzanine accessible via a staircase with open railings. Extra supervision is recommended to ensure the safety of young children.

The owner requires a €1,000 damage and excess cleaning guarantee to be set up before arrival. No funds are taken or blocked on your card. Your card details are securely held for up to 14 days after departure. If no charge is required, they will be deleted.

Holidaymakers have been flocking to this elegant spa town since the 1900s - and with good reason.
As the gateway to the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area, you’ve great access to more than 450km of well-groomed slopes, walking and bike trails, and at the end of the day you can unwind in the thermal baths, perhaps adding a spa treatment or two! Saint Gervais-les-Bains is a great choice for families too - the town has Famille Plus status, so there’s always something going on to keep children entertained.

Chalet La Chandelle is a three-storey property for up to 12 guests. It's situated in Bionnassay, a small hamlet above the busy resort of Saint-Gervais (8km), but you'll feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere and yet, you’ll be just 15 minutes from the slopes!
There are four bedrooms - three double rooms which can each be arranged with a kingsize bed or two single beds. Two of these rooms are on the ground floor and have en-suite shower rooms, whereas the third is on the first floor, and has a large bathroom with a bath, shower and WC.
This room also has doors to the terrace - a great place for your morning coffee!
The final room is a bunk room with four double bunk beds, each of which can be closed off with bright checked curtains - it's the perfect place for children to enjoy a sleepover every night. There is also a separate shower room with two showers and a separate WC.
There are two more double beds and a single bed on the mezzanine floor, but only one double bed is included in the capacity of the chalet (12) The rest of the area is a great place for older children to hang out - there's a piano, board games and seating.
There's also a home office with four work stations and great views of Mont Joly, making Chalet La Chandelle a great choice for remote working.
The open-plan living area on the first floor has a well-equipped kitchen with a large range cooker. The large dining table overlooks the terrace and the garden beyond, and there's a cosy sitting area with a wood fire.
The furnished terrace has a dining table, a barbecue and a pizza oven, and there are several places where you can sit in the garden and admire the views - why not light the fire pit and make a night of it!
The chalet enjoys a peaceful and secluded location, just 200 meters from the main road, and is accessible via a paved road. During the winter season, this road is cleared of snow daily, but please note that snow tires and chains are mandatory to access the chalet.
A 4x4 vehicle is strongly recommended in case of heavy snowfall.

We love beautiful, inspiring places with a soulful quality. We fell in love with this chalet and its two mazots, which we completely renovated between 2021 and 2023 - the joy of working as an architect on your own home - to bring out the beauty of wood and stone in this very special natural setting.
The last hamlet in the village of Bionnassay, at an altitude of 1,400 metres, in the heart of the Mont Blanc massif, La Chandelle is in a nature reserve, facing the Goûter dome and its famous refuge, the last stop for mountaineers on their ascent to Mont Blanc. At nightfall, you can watch from the terrace as the climbers stream up the mountain in search of the summit, lighting up the slopes with their many lights.
It's a spectacle that plunges us into a deep reverie.
We love contrasts (going from the hectic atmosphere of a big city to the absolute silence of the mountains), so we'd like you to enjoy this magical experience of disconnection and immersion in nature at La Chandelle, just a few minutes from the St Gervais le Fayet TGV station.
Whether you are meditating in front of the Aiguille de Bioassay hiking, snowshoeing, or skiing around the chalet, heading to the ski resorts of Megève or St Gervais, or watching the deer with a telescope in the autumn, you will experience something both intense and rejuvenating here. So close and yet so far from civilization.
